An Excuse to Drink: National Vodka Day 2015

So today is National Vodka Day and you KNOW we’re not one to miss a major holiday! In all fairness National Vodka day was a marketing creation to help sell more vodka, as if they needed any help, and it’s been around since 2009. I don’t argue holidays and I definitely don’t complain about alcoholidays so we’ve had the day marked on our calendars since the first year.

Even though vodka isn’t my first love, it’s one of my go to spirits. Why? It’s as versatile as it gets. When someone comes to the bar, or comes over your house and they just say “make me something good, nine times out of ten they’re gonna get a vodka based drink. It’s neutral in flavor and you just add the flavors you want to promote to it making it easy o please a novice or undecided drinker.If you’re still looking for the right vodka cocktail o just want to try something different we’ve got a slew of drink recipes below courtesy of our friends at Grey Goose, Pinnacle, and

Pinnacle Dessert Table

  • 1 part Pinnacle® Pumpkin Pie Vodka
  • 1 part DeKuyper® Crème DeCocoa Dark
  • 1 part Half and Half

Combine ingredients and serve. Garnish with whipped cream.

Pinnacle High Roller

  • Pinnacle Original Vodka
  • Olive Juice
  • Vermouth

Pinnacle Handsome Ginger

  • Pinnacle Original Vodka
  • Ginger Beer
  • Lime Juice

Pinnacle Salty Ginger

  • 1 part Pinnacle Salted Caramel Vodka
  • 2 parts Ginger Ale

Build in order over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with lemon twist or wedge

Blue Betty

  • ¼ oz agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 6 blueberries (muddle)
  • 1 basil leaf (muddle)
  • ¼ oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 oz Deep Eddy Vodka
  • 2 oz Topo Chico
  • Blueberry and basil leaf garnish

Combine first 4 ingredients, then muddle, shake and strain over new ice. Top with Topo Chico. Garnish with blueberry and basil leaf.

Congress Mule

  • 2 oz Deep Eddy Vodka
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 4 oz Ginger Beer
  • Lime garnish
  • Add all the ingredients to a highball glass filled with ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Ruby Rouge (Pictured above)

  • 3 oz Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka
  • 1 oz Campari Apertivo
  • 3 oz Club Soda
  • Lime Garnish

In a cocktail glass, combine Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka with Campari Apertivo. Top off with Club Soda and slide Lime wedge down side of glass for garnish. Enjoy!
