BayouRum-Tales

Louisiana’s own, Bayou Rum launched last week at Tales of the Cocktail, and made a big splash at the worlds premier cocktail festival. Bayou isn’t just a name, its an authentic taste of Louisiana, featuring unrefined raw sugar, and fresh molasses straight out the Bayou. The results are a sweet and smooth rum that makes you wonder what took so long to make it? Louisiana’s the birthplace of sugarcane in the U.S., so it only makes all the more sense. Bayou is handmade in the largest privately-owned rum distillery in the USA, utilizing traditional methods to give you an authentic taste of the south. To properly introduce themselves to the world, several events were hosted throughout the week to give exposure to the brand including:

  • A Night on the Bayou: A, Spirited Dinner at Grand Isle Restaurant featuring live entertainment, award-winning cuisine, neat tastings, and cocktail pairings.
  • Meet the Craft Distillers: Guests were privileged to meet and greet with the master distiller and blender for Bayou Rum.
  • Gator-Tailing with Bayou Rum: Attendees were invited to sip refreshing rum cocktails street side while admiring an amazingly restored, Bayou Rum branded, 1957 GMC wagon.

“We’re bringing the bayou to the city to offer authentic Bayou Rum and a taste of our culture at Tales of the Cocktail by sponsoring these events. Tales of the Cocktail represents an incredible opportunity to share the spirit of Louisiana with a global audience,” said Trey Litel, President of Louisiana Spirits

We were lucky enough to enter “The Bayou” to taste their two spirit offerings, a Silver and Spiced rum, in a variety of cocktails and served straight. From Daiquiris to Mai Tai’s, and custom cocktails, Bayou Rum showed amazing versatility in the drinks that were created. I’m not a huge spiced rum fan, and even I enjoyed drinking it straight. We’ll offer a full Bayou Rum review sometime early next moth, but hopefully for now you can take our word for it. Can’t wait for us? It’s ok, we understand. If you see it on the shelf, grab a bottle and try one of the recipes below for yourself.
