Celebrating National Tequila Day with Republic Tequila

…..If you’re looking for an excuse to drink, July 24th is National Tequila Day. Seems like there is a holiday for everything  these days, but at least this time it’s something worth celebrating.  Tequila sales continue to soar, and we here at 101, have helped contribute to that a lot lately. But in all seriousness, how many times has a bottle of tequila helped contribute to one of your most memorable nights? How many times have you sworn off drinking it only to find your self with a cup of it in your hand the next weekend? North America’s first native-born spirit, is the spirit you love to hate and hate to love.

We all know Tequila comes from Mexico, and from the labeling on (good) tequila, we know it comes from the blue agave plant. But did you know that Mexican law states tequila can ONLY be produced in the state of Jalisco and limited areas of Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas? Mexico has claimed the exclusive international right to the word “tequila” threatening legal actions against manufacturers of distilled blue agave spirits in other countries. But enough of the history, how about some drinks?

In honor of today’s Holiday, we’re sharing some awesome recipes featuring Austin, Texas-based Republic Tequila. Republic Tequila is an ultra premium 100% blue agave and certified organic tequila. Tomorrow we’ll be featuring a full review of their Reposado tequila but hopefully these recipes can hold you over until then.
