Jamaican Kool-Aid Cocktail

…..How’s you’re Summer going so far? Hot enough for you yet? Here in sunny Florida it’s been back and forth between weekly monsoons and dry heat scorchers. Luckily we found a great new recipe to keep us cool. It’s called Jamaican Cool Aid and comes to us from soda company Schweppes. No, I don’t know where they got the name, and to be honest as long as it tastes good I wont bother to ask. This one has a bit of everything from rum, to wine, to soda, to liqueurs. The original recipe calls for a citrus blend from Schweppes that I’ve been unable to locate in the United States unfortunately but hearing the name Jamaican Cool Aid inspired me to use Grapefruit soda in place of their citrus blend. Ting, is a HIGHLY popular grapefruit soda in Jamaica, and I’m always looking for ways to incorporate it. If you can’t find it don’t worry, there are others, but it’s my favorite. So here is my rendition on the Jamaican cool-aid cocktail. Hope you enjoy

Jamaican Kool-Aid (adapted by Intoxicology 101)

  • 2 oz Light Rum
  • 2/3 oz Apple Liqueur
  • 1/3 oz Limoncello
  • 1 oz Port
  • Grapefruit Soda

Combine your rum, apple liqueur and Limoncello into a highball glass. Fill with crushed ice and then top off with a splash of grapefruit soda, followed by your port for an awesome look (like in the photo).
