Low Calorie Cocktails with Sweet’N Low

…..We’re back from Tales of The Cocktail, the mixology equivalent of Woodstock and what an event it was. But after four days and four nights of non-stop drinking and eating of authentic Louisiana food cuisine, we need to make some “healthier” choices to offset all the damage we did.  That’s why we’ve got some awesome diet cocktail recipes perfect for preserving that beach body, or getting you back on the road to recovery. Sweet’N Low wants you to “Let Your Sweet Flag Fly” this Summer, and has crafted these all new low calorie cocktails so you can enjoy some of life’s guilty pleasures.

Lemon Drop

(Serves 1)

Light and lively, this is a great summer cocktail.

  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 packet Sweet’N Low® granulated sugar substitute
  • 2 ounces Lemon-flavored vodka, chilled
  • 1 curl lemon zest, for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, Sweet’N Low, and vodka. Fill the shaker halfway with cracked ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a chilled stemmed glass. Garnish with the lemon zest.

PER SERVING: 130 calories, 0 g fat (0g saturated fat), 1 g carbohydrate, 0 g protein, 0 g dietary fiber, 0 mg sodium.

 

Skinny Cosmopolitan

(Serves 1)

A cocktail favorite – with a skinny twist.

  • 2 1-inch x 1/2-inch strips lemon zest
  • 2 1-inch x 1/2-inch strips orange zest
  • 1 packet Sweet’N Low® granulated sugar substitute
  • 1/2 ounce unsweetened pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1 lime slice, for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lemon and orange zest with the Sweet’N Low. Add the pomegranate juice and vodka. Fill the shaker halfway with cracked ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a chilled stemmed glass. Garnish with the lime slice.

PER SERVING: 100 calories, 0 g fat (0g saturated fat), 2 g carbohydrate, 0 g protein, 0 g dietary fiber, 0 mg sodium.

 

Skinny Daiquiri

(Serves 1)

A touch of lime zest accents the flavor of this favorite cocktail.

  • 1 1-inch x 1/2-inch strip lime zest
  • 1 packet Sweet’N Low® granulated sugar substitute
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces light rum
  • 1 lime slice, for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime zest with the Sweet’N Low. Add the lime juice and rum. Fill halfway with cracked ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a chilled stemmed glass. Garnish with the lime slice.

PER SERVING: 100 calories, 0 g fat (0g saturated fat), 2 g carbohydrate, 0 g protein, 0 g dietary fiber, 0 mg sodium.

 

Sangria

(Serves 20)

  • 1 orange, chilled and cut into wedges
  • 3 1/2 cups seltzer
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sweet ‘N Low granulated sugar substitute
  • 1 bottle (1.5 liters) burgundy or other red wine
  • 1/4 cup limejuice
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 lemon, chilled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberry slices

In large pitcher or punch bowl, stir together juices, wine, and Sweet ‘N Low until Sweet ‘N Low dissolves; refrigerate until well chilled. Just before serving, add seltzer, orange wedges, lemon slices, and strawberry slices. 

PER SERVING: 60 calories, 0 g fat (0g saturated fat), 3 g carbohydrate, 0 g protein, 0 g dietary fiber, 15 mg sodium.
