In case you missed the memo, July 27th is National Scotch day. We know you might still be a little hung over from National Tequila Day, but we’re always looking for a good excuse to drink so we celebrate ALL alcoholidays. Did we mention its also super hot outside? I’ll drink to that too!
So to celebrate we’ve decided to partner up with Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky this week to feature the Tartan Collins, an easy to make cocktail that’s both smoky and sweet and perfect to enjoy with friends on a hot July day.
Tartan Collins (By mixologist Jordan Felix, Portland, OR) Ingredients
11/2 parts Laphroaig® Select Scotch Whisky
1/4 part Five-Spice Syrup (recipe below)*
2 dashes of Orange Bitters
Method: Pour the Laphroaig Select in a collins glass, followed by the five-spice syrup and bitters. Add ice, and top off with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wheel.
*Five-Spice Syrup Ingredients:
2oz bottle of Five-Spice Blend
64oz fine sugar
Method: Combine all ingredients a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce until all ingredients are blended. Let cool for 2 hours and refrigerate before use.
