origin_3757867729National Margarita day is coming up this weekend, and in case you haven’t noticed, we love to celebrate alcoholidays around here. To help you celebrate at home, we’re sharing a couple recipes from Olmeca Altos Tequila. We first tasted Olmeca this past year at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, and have been fans ever since. Margaritas are a staple when it comes to mixing up a cocktail with tequila and Olmeca Altos has developed two recipes below for you to serve while celebrating National Margarita Day, incorporating both the Olmeca Altos Plata and Reposado flavors.

Jasmine Tea Margarita

  • 2 parts Olmeca Altos Reposado
  • 1 part lime juice
  • ½ part agave syrup
  • 4 parts jasmine tea

Build up all ingredients over ice. Stir in chilled glass.

Candy Infused Cocktails At Home: Watermelon HI-CHEWrita

So we’re easing back into regular life, but for many of us, the transition will be slow. Working from home, lot’s of zoom meetings, going to work in your pajamas (or less). When work begins to invade your personal space it can be come challenging separating  the two but mixing up an after-work cocktail is a great way to transition from home office to home lounge. Cocktails at home can be fun, bring out a lot of creativity and cost much less than the drinks at your usual watering hole.  So this week we’re sharing a recipe from our partners over at HI-CHEW

HI-CHEW candy has partnered with Allison Kave of Brooklyn bar and bakery Butter & Scotch to create cocktail recipes that infuse the candy into the liquor to create an enjoyable DIY project while we spend time at home. The Watermelon HI-CHEWrita uses HI-CHEW Sweet & Sour Watermelon to create a refreshing taste reminiscent of sipping margaritas on the beach!

Watermelon HI-CHEWrita [Courtesy of Allison Kave of Butter & Scotch]

  • 2 ounces HI-CHEW Sweet & Sour Watermelon-infused mezcal

  • .5 ounce orange liqueur

  • 1 ounce watermelon puree*

  • .75 ounce lime juice

  • .75 ounce simple syrup

Measure the ingredients into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice, and shake for 25 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass, half-rimmed with a mixture of sugar, salt, and chili powder.

*To make watermelon puree, simply blend fresh seedless (or de-seeded) watermelon cubes in a blender until smooth. **INFUSIONS: The infusion ratio is one piece of candy per ounce of liquor. Soak the candy until dissolved.

Feel free to experiment with this one and other flavors from HI-Chew or your favorite candy brand. Have  fun with this one, and more importantly, stay safe and inside. Cheers!
