The fall holiday season is kicking off next week with Halloween and we’re pretty excited. We’ve already been to two pre-Halloween Halloween parties, and we’ve got 3 more lines up. Binging on candy and dressing up is ok at all ages right? This year has been especially fun because I feel like the quality of horror films really stepped it up . Did you catch “IT” yet? Exactly! But as fun as playing dress up is, we’re really here for the drinks. So this week we’re sharing some fun Halloween cocktail recipes we found that are inspired by this years scariest villains. Tell us what you think, and sleep with one eye open!

Cheers,

Alex

National Tequila Day: Summer Cocktails with Sauza Tequila [Sponsored]

It’s Summer time AND today is National Tequila day so today drinking a tequila cocktail is practically a two for one. It’s super hot here in Florida, 95 every day to be exact and Tequila is my go to spirit of the Summer so i’ll definitely be mixing some up. I’m a huge fan of tequila with citrus, it brings out the flavors best for me so I’ll be mixing with crisp and fresh fruits. I was almost ashamed to admit my liquor cabinet was a little low in tequila but thankfully our partners at Sauza Tequila sent a few samples our way and the crisis was averted. Along with their Blue Silver and Gold tequila they sent 3 cocktail recipes to try so we spent this past Saturday mixing up drinks with our neighbors and they were ALL a hit. My personal favorite is the Paloma, a classic tequila cocktail that is hugely underrated. So while everyone is throwing down margaritas this Summer, try one of these instead!

green-goblin-jello-shots

Halloween Jello shots anyone? Jello shots are one of those timeless party favorites that you really can’t go wrong with. This week we’re sharing a recipe for a spooky Halloween themed version of our low-calorie margarita Jello shots. Yes I said low-calorie, so all of you uptight drinkers can put down the vodka and club soda cocktails that have absolutely no flavor and enjoy yourselves for once. If you can’t find the brand below, feel free to check your mixers section at your local grocery, they typically have a substitute.

Cheers,

Alex

Green Goblin Jell-O Shots

  • 10 limes (the larger, the better)
  • 1 packet lemon Jell-O mix
  • 1 cup tequila
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 bottle Be Mixed Zero-Calorie & Sugar Free “Margarita” Cocktail Mixer
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions: Zest 2 limes, then halve all. Using a small sharp knife, cut around the edges of the flesh at an angle and remove as much as possible, then scrape out any remaining flesh using a fork or a small spoon. Discard all the flesh. Place cut-side up on a baking sheet.

In a small pot, bring water and Be Mixed to a boil over high heat. As soon as it’s boiling, pour over Jell-O in a heatproof bowl and stir until fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Stir in tequila.

Carefully pour the mixture into the lime halves, filling all the way. Carefully transfer to the fridge and chill until set, 2-3 hours or overnight.

While the mixture chills, in a small bowl, stir together salt, lime zest, and chili powder.
