…..If you’ve survived this scorching Summer thus far, kudos, but even with July finally over, it’s only going to get worse. What better way to prepare for the brutal days of August then with some great frozen drinks to help you keep your cool. Everyone knows about the popular favorites: Classic Margarita, Pina Colada, and Daiquiri, but here are a few of my favorite frozen cocktails you might not know about.

Blue Bayou

1 1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
1/2 cup of Pineapples
2 oz Grapefruit Juice
1 Cup of Ice

Add all ingredients in a blender and blend to your preferred texture. Pour into a Margarita glass and Garnish with a Pineapple slice/chunk.

Hawaiian Margarita

1 1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Triple Sec
2 oz Fresh or Canned Pineapples
2 oz Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
1/2 oz Sour Mix
1 Cup of Ice

Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until icy. Pour into a chilled margarita glass and garnish with a Pineapple slice.

Chi-Chi

2 oz vodka
1/2 oz blue curaçao
1/2 oz cream of coconut
1/2 cup fresh or canned pineapple
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
1/2 Cup of ice

Add all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a chilled margarita glass and garnish with a pineapple chunk.

Hpnotiq Margarita

1 1/2 oz Silver Tequila
1 oz Hpnotiq Liqueur
1/2 oz blue curaçao
2 oz sour mix
1 oz pineapple juice
1 Cup of Ice

Add all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Rim a chilled margarita glass with sugar, and pour into the glass.

This Sundays showdown between division rivals the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers is already being dubbed by members of the media and each teams fan base as “The most important game in each teams history”. Impress your friends this year by pairing one of these Bears/Packers inspired cocktails with your favorite set of snacks.

Chicago Bears

Bear Blitz Margarita:

1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
1/2 oz 1800 Tequila
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Ice

Lovies Lemonade:

1 1/2 oz Russian Standard Vodka
1 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
Lemonade

In a shaker, combine Vodka and Curacao and then strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top off with Lemonade until full.

Green Bay Packers

Packer Punch:

10 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
5 oz Vodka
2 oz Orange Juice

Recipe Makes a large quantity. For individual servings decrease to 2 oz Midori, 1 oz Vodka and a splash of OJ. Combine Midori and Vodka first and then add in Orange Juice.

Wisconsin Old Fashioned

2 oz Brandy
3 Dash Bitters
1 Sugar Cube
1 Splash Water
1 Splash Club Soda
Orange Wheel
Cherry

Old Fashioned fans looking for one in Wisconsin will never find the traditional bourbon ingredients instead being replaced by brandy. Dissolve sugar cube in a small amount of water (or use a splash of simple syrup). Muddle an orange wheel, just to get a bit of juice out of it. Add brandy and bitters. Pack glass with ice and add a splash of soda. Garnish with a brandy soaked cherry.

Hope you enjoy these NFL edition cocktails. Though not a rivalry itself,  Jets and Pittsburgh fans are sure to get an exciting game to watch as well. New York fans can try a “Revis island” while Steelers fans can check out the “Black and Gold” Martini.

New Cherry flavor closely follows the runaway success of Evan Williams Honey Reserve

BARDSTOWN, KY–Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., the country’s largest independent family-owned and operated spirits producer and marketer, announces the release of Evan Williams Cherry Reserve Kentucky Liqueur, a new product that marries extra-aged Evan Williams Bourbon with natural cherry flavor.  Bottled at 70 proof and available in both a 750ml and 50ml size, Evan Williams Cherry Reserve will be shipping to select markets across the country in September at an average retail price of $14.99 for the 750ml bottle.

The launch of Evan Williams Cherry Reserve follows closely on the heels of the hugely successful introduction of Evan Williams Honey Reserve, which began in test markets in September 2009 and completed its national rollout in February of 2010.  Since that time, it has had both great sales success and critical acclaim, including winning a Silver Medal at the most recent San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Both the Evan Williams Cherry and Honey Reserves take advantage of established trends in the distilled spirits industry in general and the American straight whiskey category in particular.  Among these is the ongoing success of flavored spirits, whose growth is more than double that of unflavored spirits; as well as the continued popularity of Bourbon, especially Evan Williams, which showed double digit sales percentage increases in both 2008 and 2009.
