Universal Studios Ocean Attack Cocktail

One of the greatest things about living in Orlando is our close proximity to two of the worlds biggest theme parks. We’re smack in the middle of Universal Studios Orlando and Walt Disney World and we LOVE IT. We’re annual pass holders at Universal and try to visit every other week, and we usually visit Disney at least every other month. Unfortunately due to Covid, the parks were closed for nearly 3 months, and now even with both parks re-opening ( Universal opened last month and Disney opened last week) we’ve chosen to stay away for health and safety concerns.

Then it hit us, maybe a lot of YOU are theme park junkies just like us. Maybe YOU miss the food and drinks as much as us, so we’re sharing one of our favorite recipes you can get at Universal. The drink is called the Universal Studios Ocean Attack Cocktail but depending on which bar in Universal Studios you visit, it may be called the Shark Attack. We’re still not quite sure if they changed the name completely in the parks or just have it named different at different locations. Either way we highly recommend stopping in the Chez Alcatraz or Finnegans bars but you really can’t go wrong at any of the watering holes on property. So this cocktail is simple, and our recipe is both a recreation of the drink AND easily adaptable for those that want more or less “buzz”.

Universal Studios Ocean Attack Cocktail

  • 2 oz Coconut Rum
  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • Half a can of pineapple juice (or to taste)
  • Top with Sprite
  • Dash of Grenadine OR Cherry Garnish for the “blood effect”

Build your cocktail in order of the recipe above, and service. Simple, easy, delicious.

A perfect copycat cocktail so now YOU can make these at home and pretend you’re at the parks until you can finally be reunited. That is of course unless you’re one of the people that is currently opting to visit the parks while they are at about 25-50% capacity and taking precautions. But for the rest of us, this will have to do for now. You can even find old cheesy theme park uniforms on ebay or etsy and go all in on at home. That’s all for now, hopefully next time we’re sharing one of these, it’ll be from within the parks!

Cheers,

Alex
