UV Coconut Vodka Review

I hope everyone’s enjoying there summer, after all, its half way over. If you’re like me, summer usually means tequila, flavored rums, “manly” drinks with umbrellas in it, and all sorts of tropical fruit juices. The flavor of choice for “most” come summer time is coconut rum, aka the “can’t go wrong” mixer of the summer. Just about any fruit juice mixer you can imagine, as well as cola combined with a little coco rum and you’re magically taken from your 9-5 summer job and inserted on the beaches of Tahiti. That being said, on my latest mission for something to “taste” I noticed a coconut flavored vodka, new to the shelves this summer by the UV brand. Also hitting shelves around the same time was Sean Comb’s Ciroc coconut flavored vodka which didn’t exactly “excite” me. But seeing this milky white bottle at a price of 13.99 from a brand that has actually provided some excellent flavored vodkas made me think this was worth a try. Advertised as the world’s first naturally flavored, white colored coconut vodka, it’s distilled four times and definitely offers strong aromas of coconut and sugar as you open the bottle. The smoothness of the vodka combined with the strength of the coconut flavor puts a completely different spin on the classic coco rum and pineapple cocktail. They use Florida grown natural cane sugar to sweeten it and it does wonders for the palate. The milky white color comes from the producers decision to use “real” coconut juice in the making of their product. According to research, coconut is the most requested flavor in bars and establishments over the last year so it’s no wonder Vodka producers are dabbling into a “rum” realm and hoping for success. Success shouldn’t take to long, both UV and Ciroc coconut are doing well on the market and at a price of 13.99, UV is definitely a winner. I’ve got a few basic recipes for you to try below, but if you’re looking for any “desert drink” recipes, stay tuned as I do a little more “lab work” with this product. (Pictures to come !)
