Whiskey Girl Peach Whiskey Review

Happy New Year! We survived yet another one, and we’re glad because just like whiskey, we get better with age. Our first review of the year is actually a 3 part series. We’re collaborating withWhiskey Girl, a brand of whiskey that claims they’re “putting the balls back in girls night”. If you’ve ever been in a marketing class, a slogan like that would get you an A- on your homework, and they’re marketing to the right people because let’s be honest, women drinkers have been stereotyped for decades as being vodka drinkers or more importantly, just anti-whiskey. Not anymore, women love whiskey, and for those that don’t, flavored whiskies are a great gateway into the whiskey world.

Whiskey Girl is a product of Dark Corner Distillery, a boutique micro distillery located in downtown Greenville, SC. They’re known for their small batches of moonshine, aged whiskey, and some other goodies but with Whiskey Girl they’ve launched 3 flavored whiskies, Peach, Apple/Maple, and Butterscotch aimed at the ladies (and maybe some guys too?). We’re starting things off with Peach this week.

First Impression: If you’re like me you know I eat and drink with my eyes even though we all so never judge a book by its cover but we all do it. Liquor is no exception and I love the packaging here. The bottle is your classic long body long neck and the graphics on the label are a detailed stencil that reminds you of a traditional American whiskey brand. They put their own touch with a woman’s lip/lipstick imprint right in the middle and at the bottom there’s a pre-printed label that reminds you this is a locally handcrafted brand made with fresh local ingredients.

Tasting Notes: When we first popped this thing open I didn’t get much of a peach aroma. Judging by past experience you never know what you’ll get with some brands. Some over do it, some don’t do it enough. In Whiskey Girl Peach the aroma starts off slow, fruity for sure bot no defined flavor until you let it swirl a bit and then the peach comes out nicely.

Unlike the aroma, the peach flavor in here is VERY evident right away. Its sweet but not overwhelming and makes for an incredible smoothness to the taste. There’s almost no burn and when I say almost none keep in mind every whiskey will burn some or else it just wouldn’t be whiskey. Have you ever had a flat soda? Still has all the flavor but without the fizz it just isn’t the same fight? We really like it neat, the aroma and the flavor are intense, but if you’re not as excited about the sweet stuff pouring it over

Price:  $26.99 [35% ABV / 70 Proof / 750 ML]

Grade: B+

Final Word: So far so good, I’m not the biggest fan of peach as a flavor, but in whiskey it works pretty well 9 times out of 10 and this is one of those 9. At 70 proof, you and your lady can BOTH drink this and not worry it will be called one of those “fruity drinks”. It’s versatile, it’s tasty, and it’s not gonna empty your wallets. It’s the perfect drink for a girls night out.
