World Gin Day Meets National Bourbon Day

Not quite sure how it happened, but June 14th, 2014 is World Gin Day AND it’s National Bourbon Day. I don’t question the validity of drinking holidays, and I definitely don’t bother figuring out how two drinking holidays could land on the same day. All I know is we’ve got two really good excuses to drink today, and if you were too superstitious to go out yesterday because it was Friday the 13th, then you’ve got even more reason to get out and enjoy yourself tonight.

I’m going to keep it simple tonight, we recently received samples of Four Roses single Barrel & Small Batch, so I’ll be making some Bourbon Milk Punch’s for after dinner. But for some day drinking fun, I’ll be making a Gin Bramble for myself and a few friends using Brockman’s Gin, another new brand we received. Check below for the recipes.

Bramble

Brockmans Bramble:

  • 40 ML of Gin
  • 20 ML Lemon Juice
  • 15 ML Simple Syrup
  • 15 ML Blackberry Liqueur
  • 2 Blackberries
  • Crushed Ice

Fill a glass with crushed ice. Add Gin, lemon juice, and sugar into a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into your glass filled with ice, then pour blackberry over top and garnish with 2 blackberries.

Bourbon Milk Punch

  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons confectioner’s sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • Ice cubes
  • Whole or ground nutmeg

In a pitcher, combine the brandy, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt and stir until frothy. Pour into two glasses, and sprinkle nutmeg over top.

Cheers
