Celebrating National Cachaca Day
It’s one of our favorite alcoholidays this week! September 13th is National Cachaca day although it feels like we celebrate it every day around here. If you aren’t familiar with the spirit, Cachaca is a rum like spirit made in Brazil. It’s used to make one of our favorite drinks, the Caipirinha, which also happens to be the national cocktail of Brazil. The Caipirinha is a super delicious cocktail that uses the spirit Cachaca, lime juice, and sugar. It’s that simple, only three ingredients! We actually introduced many of our readers to the cocktail last year this time with our guide on how to make a Caipirinha, but in case you missed it we’re back at it again this year. We’ve provided the recipe below so you can try it at home, and we used our favorite brand of Cachaca, Leblon, but if you can’t find it feel free to substitute it with an available brand of your choice. Drop us a line and tell us what you think!
Caipirinha Cocktail:
- 2 oz Leblon Cachaça
- 1/2 a lime, cut into wedges
- 2 tsp Superfine sugar or 1 oz Simple syrup
Muddle the lime and sugar in a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and add Leblon Cachaça. Shake well and serve in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wedge
Cheers,
Alex
