Valentine’s Day is almost here and let’s be honest, it isn’t for everyone. If you’re in a good relationship you’re spending it with the one you love giving or receiving flowers, candies, and amazing dinners. If you’re single or in a rocky relationship this day can be the pits. I’m not a relationship counselor, but I think one thing both “types” of people would agree on is that this weekend is a great excuse to drink, and it’s always helpful when a holiday falls on or near the weekend so you aren’t headed into work the next morning. Below we’ve got a roundup of some really good drinks that several of our sponsors have shared with us. We’re not leaving anyone out with these we’ve got a nice mix of drinks for him and her so whether you want it romantic or not, we’ve got you covered. Oh and if you’re not going out AND don’t want to mess with making drinks, check out our review of Baileys Chocolate Covered Cherry Liqueur. It’s delicious and can be served straight up. It’s like a pre-made cocktail in a bottle.

2015 is officially here and yes, it took us a full week to recover from the last night of 2014. Hopefully your NYE wasn’t nearly as exhausting, or maybe hopefully it was? Anyway with a new year I like to look back and reflect on some of the craziness that was 2014 and I can say one thing stood out more than any other.

Are you on Pinterest? We’ve been riding the Pinterest tail since it began and it’s pretty addicting. It’s hard to ignore the influence they have and they recently released a Pinterest Top 100 list that crowned a new king in the spirits world. According to Pinterest, Tequila and NOT Vodka was the most sought after spirit for cocktail recipes. That’s pretty impressive. Vodka is a colorless and odorless BEAST that’s usually pretty dominant but this gives me hope that the wicked step child of liquor will make an impressive move in 2015.

In honor of the good news we’re “remixing” one of our favorite cocktails by swapping vodka with tequila and we encourage you to do the same. In the New Year try a Mexican Mule and see if it doesn’t kick it up a notch!

Mexican Mule

  • 1 part Tequila. (We used Sauza 901 Tequila)
  • 2 parts ginger beer
  • Juice of ½ lime

Combine your Tequila and lime juice in a highball glass. Add ice. Pour ginger beer into glass. Garnish with fresh lime wedge.

maple in a minuteLabor Day weekend is here, and that usually signals the unofficial end of Summer. If you’re up north you might be dreading the change but when you’re down south and have had to deal with 95+ degree weather daily, a little cool breeze is much welcomed. Kick back this weekend with one of these tasty labor day cocktails, each with 3 ingredients or less so you can spend less time making them, and more time enjoying them.

Cheers
