The Lord Panama Cocktail

…..It’I It’s officially labor day weekend which means those scorching summer days are (mostly) behind us. A few years back I had a drink that completely blew my mind. As an Iced Tea fanatic, I never thought about mixing iced tea with spirits to make drinks during my earlier experiences with mixology but boy was I naive. Little did I know that not only is it refreshing, but it’s nationally celebrated in Panama and is the basis for the official drink of Panama’s own Ron Abuelo rum. I’m talking about the Lord Panama cocktail. After recently receiving some samples from Lipton Iced Tea’s new 100% Natural line, I decided to try a few of their teas and create variations of the Lord Panama. Give them a try this Labor day and see if maybe you too have been missing out.

  1. Great to see Panama’s Ron Abuelo mentioned here. Fun fact: most bars in Panama do not carry iced tea as a mixer. The most common way to drink Panamanian rum when in Panama is in a Cuba Libre (rum, cola, lime). Go figure! 🙂
