…..Still scrambling to finish last minute shopping? Had enough with those paper cuts from wrapping all those gifts? It’s ok, you’re in the homes stretch and soon it’ll all be over. To take some edge off try mixing up a few of these holiday drinks courtesy of Don Q rum. The official rum of Peurto Rico is a mainstay in my liquor cabinet and is the ONLY rum you should use whenever making an authentic Coquito (Puerto-Rican Egg nog). Happy Holidays!
Traditional Coquito
- 30 oz COCONUT CREAM
- 14 oz SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
- 12 oz EVAPORATED MILK
- 1 tsp VANILLA EXTRACT
- 1-2 cups DONQ CRISTAL
- 1/4 tbsp GROUND CINNAMON
- 1/8 tbsp GROUND NUTMEG
Mix all ingredients in a blender on high. Refrigerate. Serve cold, sip and enjoy. Yields about 3L of coquito.

Jack Frost
- 1 oz. DONQ CRISTAL
- 1/4 oz. SIMPLE SYRUP
- 3/4 ozFRESH LEMON JUICE
- 3/4 oz. GRAND MARNIER LIQUEUR
- 4 oz. SPARKLING WINE
Pour all of the ingredients into a cocktail glass full of ice and shake well. Strain into a champagne flute. Top with some sparkling white wine. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
Home for the Holidays
- 8 oz. DONQ AÑEJO RUM
- 4 oz.FRESH LEMON JUICE
- 5 oz. FRESH ORANGE JUICE
- 2 oz. SIMPLE SYRUP
- 2 oz. DOMAINE DE CANTON GINGER LIQUEUR
- 2 oz. DRAMBUIE LIQUEUR
Pour all of the ingredients into a punch bowl. Make sure to chill thoroughly — we suggest using a large block of ice. Garnish with orange slices studded with clove.
Holiday Highball
- 2 oz DONQ PASIÓN
- 1/2 oz DONQ AÑEJO
- 1 oz PASSION FRUIT JUICE
- 1/2 oz SIMPLE SYRUP
- Splash SPARKLING WINE
- 1 MINT SPRIG
- 1 LEMON WHEEL
Shake rums, juices, simple syrup and ice. Strain into an ice-filled highball glass. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with mint sprig and lemon wheel.
