30 fall cocktails

I LOVE this time of year. Football season is in full swing, the summer tourism season here in Florida is over, and for a Chicagoan stuck down here, I finally can walk outside without sweating my ass butt off. Besides that, I get to change of my drinks menu here at mi casa. We switch out the seasonal fruits of Summer with warm flavors that remind you of the cooler Fall season. Cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, peppermint, maple, and caramel are just some of the many flavors that go perfect with this time of year. I love making my own drinks, but I’m also a huge fan of surfing the net and finding other people’s awesome recipes and trying them myself. After sipping on probably over 100 different drinks in just the past 2 months I’ve put together a list of 30 of my favorite  fall cocktail recipes that we’ve had. Keep in mind this is our favorites so far…Try one or try them all, there’s a little something for everyone.

Ok so a bit of a pre-warning… I rarely if ever encourage drinking bud light, or any of its products. As a former Miller Lite employee, I just got use to never trying the stuff. On top of that I’m not even a big beer drinker, but when I do I go for something  usually considered “craft” or snobby haha. BUT, A reader passed along this recipe they got from the folks at Bud Light and they absolutely loved it. In fact, she encouraged me to try it, and share it with others. I tried it, it was actually pretty damn good, and now i’m holding up my end and making sure you guys get a chance to try it this weekend. Booze and milkshakes are never a bad combo. We’ve attached the recipe and the photo for easy following. Write it down, print it out, just don’t miss out. A special thanks to Jenna in D.C. for passing this one along.

Raise your right hand if you like cheesecake. Ok, now keep that hand raised, and also, raise your left hand if you like to drink. Now, keep’em high, and hop on one foot if you like the idea of combining the two. Ok, sorry, got a little carried away, you might look kind of silly now, but we wanted to prove a point. Even when Thanksgiving isn’t, a day away, a good dessert or a good drink is always a good idea. But when you can kill two birds with one stone and combine the two, I’m all for it. We’ll have several dessert dishes at the 101 house this year, but one that’s new for us, is the Kahlua Cheesecake, a boozy dessert that should be fun to try. You can use Kahlua original, or if you really want to be festive, try making it with the new Kahlua Pumpkin Spice. The recipe is below, let us know how it came out.

Kahlua Cheesecake

  • 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 16 ounces canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup KAHLÚA OR KAHLÚA Pumpkin Spice

In a bowl combine graham cracker crumbs with powdered sugar and butter, then press evenly into the bottom of a spring form pan. Bake at 350°F for 5 minutes and cool.

In mixing bowl beat cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Transfer 1 cup of the mixture to another bowl and blend in pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice. Pour half of pumpkin mixture into prepared crust then top with half of cream cheese mixture.

Repeat layers using remaining pumpkin and cream cheese mixtures. Using table knife, cut through layers with uplifting motion in five places to create marbled effect.

Place on baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, turn the oven off but do not remove cake or open the oven door. Let cake stand in oven for 1 hour then remove and place in the fridge to chill. Remove from pan and serve.

How’s your holiday season going so far? Our tree is up, are lights are on, and we’re ready to start attending Holiday parties. We’ve got invites to a Christmas party for the next 4 weeks! If you haven’t yet figured out what you’ll be sipping on at your next get together, here’s a suggestion courtesy of our friends at Grey Goose. This weeks cocktail of the week is a sweetly spiced combination of Grey Goose La Poire Flavored Vodka, Disaronno, molasses apple cider and fresh citrus. Doesn’t that just sound amazing? I’m a big seasonal drinker, and this one practically screams Fall or holiday season. Feel free to give it a try, possibly this Thanksgiving, and see if you don’t feel as excited about it as we do. Cheers!
