1394446_10151645730937016_922085658_nWe’re almost through October, and by now you’re either fully entrenched in the pumpkin movement or absolutely disgusted by it and it’s overexposure this time of year. Me? I’m a fan, and usually will find a way to eat or drink something pumpkin-y every day. McDonald’s pumpkin pies, Dunkin Donuts pumpkin donuts/bagel/coffee, and even Publix brand Pumpkin Ice cream all find their way into my house. What usually DOESN’T, occupy my kitchen space however, is pumpkin beer. I’m just not a huge fan. I try every year to sample a different style, but i’m usually left taking a few sips and pouring out the rest. I know, blasphemy right? Still, I try and be fair, and with the explosion of pumpkin beers in the market, I wanted to talk about it. I wont pretend to be an expert, and the debates on which pumpkin beer is king is pretty controversial, but that being said we wanted to list the top 10 best pumpkin beers on the market. We took in opinions experts, consumers, and even the retailers that push the stuff to market. What we didn’t do is rank them in any particular order, because well, we don’t want a bunch of hate mail sent our way. Check out our Top 10 Best Pumpkin Beers of 2013 and let us know what you think.

*Note – To assist you in your pumpkin beer shopping experience, we’ve provided the level of pumpkin flavor, and alcohol percentage in each brand. Your welcome.

Still Thirsty? – Halloween Cocktails – Breast Cancer Awareness Cocktails

…..If you haven’t heard by now, Pinnacle Vodka is at it again with the release of their latest product, Pumpkin Pie vodka. Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka is a limited edition flavor hitting the shelves just in time for the holiday season. It blends the flavors of sweet pumpkin, spicy cinnamon, and nutmeg all with a dash of whipped cream. Sound awesome right? Though I’d still prefer the real thing, I guess the next best thing to a freshly baked Pumpkin Pie is a glass full of it, on the rocks!

“This fun seasonal flavor is being offered as a limited release.  Whether served chilled, on the rocks, or in creative seasonal cocktails, Pumpkin Pie can be the go-to drink for any Halloween, Thanksgiving, football tailgate, or winter holiday party.”

Since it’s release, Intoxicology 101 has been getting flooded with emails asking for some recipes featuring the spirit so we’re here with a few courtesy of the brand, as well as a few recipes of our own. We’ll be back with a review of Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie hopefully later this month, until then let’s hope this holds you over. Cheers!

Did you go green this month? We did! Just so we’re clear, we love the environment but we’re not talking about saving the planet, we’re talking about drinking green for St. Patty’s Day! In our younger days going green for St. Patrick’s Day usually meant cheap colorful beer, rock-gut Irish whiskey and some Irish car bombs but thankfully we’ve moved on past that phase. This year we got a little more creative and partnered  with RumChata Liqueur to make some really delicious green cocktails we’re calling “Dirty Thin Mints”!

This recipe comes courtesy of our “Dirty Girl Scout Cookies” series, inspired by some of America’s favorite cookie flavors from the Girl Scouts of America. We thought with St. Patty’s this month, it only made sense to start off with this dirty thin mint that tastes SO MUCH like a thin mint cookie you may just become more obsessed with this than the original. Don’t blame us though, blame the girl scouts!
